Vinous Neal Martin - 05 Jan 23
The 2021 Meursault Les Chevalières has a more backward nose compared to Monnot's other cuvées and demands more coaxing from the glass. The palate is well balanced with orange zest and Nashi pear, just a soupçon of spice and gently fanning out towards the finish. This gets better as it goes along.

Meursault

Meursault, in Burgundy's Côte de Beaune, is famed for its rich and complex Chardonnay wines. Known for opulent textures, vibrant acidity, and nutty, buttery flavours with notes of stone fruits, citrus, and hazelnuts, these wines also feature a subtle minerality and creamy mouthfeel from limestone-rich soils and oak ageing. Though lacking Grand Cru vineyards, Premier Cru sites like Les Perrières, Les Genevrières, and Les Charmes produce exceptional wines. Top producers include Domaine des Comtes Lafon, Domaine Roulot, and Domaine Coche-Dury, all celebrated for showcasing Meursault's unique terroir.
